The three posts were built in the last phase of Second World War and had three Russian guns, but these were never used. Shooting from the three post was synchronized with Batterie Dietel at Engeløya on the opposite side of Vestfjorden.

Between 200 and 300 German soldiers were stationed in Henningsvær, taking over much of the available accommodation and displacing the local population who had to crowd into each other’s homes.
