This school started in 1943 with 22 students from Henningsvær. During the years 1943 -1971, 473 students achieved their secondary school level here. Of these, 302 were from Henningsvær. The school was private and financed through fees and a little support from the county. This was not at all sufficient so the main income was from voluntary fundraising that included shows and fairs with sale of popular homemade goodies. The school is now run under normal government funding subsidies
