BERGSTEDSLIPEN

Johan Bergsted built a boat motor repair shop here in 1919 followed by the slipway in 1920. This was the first slipway in Henningsvær. Originally situated in Svolvær, it was dismantled and reconstructed here together with Festiviteten (Place No 9) when the motor factory in Svolvær went into bankruptcy.

Agnar Bergsted operated the slipway and the motor repair shop until 1980. Then it was bought by Odd Hovdes Sønner AS and in 1990 Hovde Maritim AS took over and a new slipway cradle was built. Today, Hovde has become a respected name in Maritime supply circles and is a major employer in Henningsvaer.
